My Anti-Cancer Kit

A few months before my diagnosis, I was shopping at Costco. I’m not a big reader but I decided to browse the long tables that held dozens and dozens of different books. As I was browsing, a book called Anticancer jumped out at me. I stopped, picked up the book and put it in my shopping cart. I often wonder what compelled me to buy that book. As far as I knew, everyone was healthy in my family. Now I ask myself, did I buy it because I knew subconsciously I had cancer but was not yet diagnosed or, did I bring the cancer on to myself by the law of attraction? What you focus on, you attract.

I will never be able to answer those questions and it doesn’t matter anyway. The interesting part is, I began reading it after I was diagnosed and found out the author, David Servan-Schreiber, M.D., Ph.D. was writing about his own battle with a brain tumour.

This book is a great balance of traditional and alternative health care. “Anticancer highlights the need to combine the best conventional treatments with effective alternative therapies. Dr. Servan-Schreiber shows how we can all powerfully strengthen our bodies’ natural defences to combat cancer, improve our health, and, better yet, avoid it all together.”

I am not a doctor, natural path or nutritionist. I am a person who strongly believes in doing everything you can to strengthen your body and your immune system, whether you have cancer or not. I listened to my medical doctors and followed their advice. I also did a lot of research on my own regarding alternative treatments. In doing this, I felt I had some power and control in my healing process, not rely 100% on the conventional treatment.

In this blog, I will share what I have tried and the things I continue to do to help promote healing my body, mind and spirit. If you have cancer or any other illness, I recommend listening to your own intuition. If something jumps out at you, I encourage you to do your own research and decide whether it’s the right thing for you.

Juicing – Juicing offers many life-enhancing health benefits including a faster, more efficient way to absorb immune boosting nutrients found in fruits and vegetables. Crazy, Sexy Cancer author Kris Carr’s green juice recipe includes cucumbers, kale, celery, broccoli, green apples and ginger. Delicious and nutritious!

Diet Change – Inflammation is at the root of many diseases. I cut out all refined sugar, wheat, dairy and corn to reduce the amount of inflammation in my body. I eat smaller portions of animal protein and increase the amount of vegetables in my diet. When possible, I buy organic and preferably local. As a treat, a couple of pieces of dark chocolate, over 70% cocoa, will help satisfy cravings and is chocked full of powerful cancer fighting antioxidants.

Green Tea – Green tea is another powerful antioxidant, detoxifier and is helpful in preventing tumour growth. It contains EGCG which reduces the growth of new vessels that feed tumours. I recommend a Japanese green tea called Sencha, it has a mild flavour. Be sure to steep your tea for 8-10 minutes to release all the goodness in it.

Turmeric – Turmeric is the most powerful natural anti inflammatory identified today. It also helps stimulate apoptosis, death of cancer cells. Everyday, after dinner, I pull out three spoons, one for me, one for Marcus and one for Tristan. I fill the spoons with fish oil, half a teaspoon of turmeric and a generous pinch of black pepper. The oil and pepper aids in the absorption of the turmeric. Bottoms up!

Vitamin C – High dose intravenous vitamin C kills cancer cells while leaving the healthy cells intact. This treatment has to be administered at a clinic under the supervision of a medical doctor or a naturopathic doctor.

DCA – Dichloroacetate works by turning on the natural cell suicide system, apoptosis, allowing the cancer cells to die on their own. DCA can boost the cancer killing effects of radiation and works on many different types of cancer including brain, breast, colon, non-Hodgkin lymphoma and more. It is often followed by high dose vitamin C.

Naturopathic Doctor  – Vitamins, organ support, drainage, homeopathy, dream work and high dose IV vitamin C are just a few examples of what you can get from a ND. Make sure you find one that feels right for you. You are the patient.

Meditation – I wrote about meditation in a previous blog but I would like to reiterate the importance of taking some time for yourself to relax and quiet your mind. Reducing stress is beneficial to every cell in your body.

Coffee Enemas – A coffee enema is the procedure of injecting coffee into the anus. By stimulating the liver, this is a powerful, natural way of removing toxins from your body. You can purchase an enema kit at your local pharmacy.
Some of the condition Order Page viagra prices arises in adulthood where you have experienced such symptoms. pdxcommercial.com cheap viagra Young males of 19-25 years have problem reaching an orgasm. Such combinations could cause blood pressure to drop to an unsafe level. cialis canada online is in a class of medications known as Pde5 inhibitors. All these chemicals mix together and form a line order viagra of treatment.

Infrared Sauna – This type of sauna uses dry heat and infrared light to help relax and detoxify the body. Cell health, muscle recovery and immunity are improved with regular use. It is also beneficial for weight loss, pain relief, high blood pressure and improves circulation.

Laughter – Happy thoughts make healthy cells! I love to laugh. I watch funny t.v. shows like Ellen, The Big Bang Theory and old Seinfeld reruns. These are all fun to watch but nothing is better than a hard laugh that makes you so ugly you have to hide your face. The kind that makes tears stream down your cheeks and your stomach hurt until you hunch over. The kind of laugh that might make you pee (just a little bit), that’s a good, healthy laugh!

Singing – I’m not a good singer but every once in a while, if the right song comes on, I get the urge to belt it out. I sing along even though I usually only know about 50% of the lyrics. When I see Marcus and Tristan cringing and hear them say, “Oh my God!” I know I’ve accomplished what I set out to do.

Exercise – The benefits of exercise are endless. I dislike exercising very much but I push myself to do it because it’s so important. Exercise has been shown to improve strength, fatigue, anxiety, self-esteem, happiness and several quality of life factors in cancer survivors. I nice walk outside can make a bad day better.

Amygdalin B17- This is a plant substance found in apple seeds and apricot kernels and contain cyanide. Some believe this  helps kill cancer cells. I have these kernels in my refrigerator but have a hard time consuming them because of their pungent flavour.

Hemp Extract – I have a license for medical Cannabis. CBD has been shown to reduce seizures and tumours. THC helps with nausea and appetite. I use an oil called Charlottes Web Hemp Extract, it comes in oil form. I don’t recommend smoking it.

Ketogenic Diet – This diet has been shown to reduce tumours and help control seizures. This is a high fat, adequate protein and low carb diet. Your body isn’t starved of calories, it is starved of carbohydrates which turn into glucose and feed cancer cells. This was a tough one for me.

Essential Oils –  Athough they’ve been around for thousands of years, my latest discovery is essential oils. You can diffuse them, apply them topically or ingest them. Frankincense essential oil is used for inflammation, immunity, and infections. Frankincense, also known as Boswellia, also has confirmed cancer fighting potential. I mix frankincense with coconut oil and apply it on my throat and neck everyday and on the soles of my feet before bed.

I believe in keeping my body as free of toxins as possible. I don’t wear antiperspirant or nail polish, use gel, hairspray or perfumes. All my shampoos, soaps, lotions and laundry detergents are natural. By doing this, my immune system can focus on what needs to be attended to most importantly instead of dealing with the unhealthy ingredients in most commercial cosmetics and cleaning products.

For the first five years after my diagnosis I was very strict with my diet, almost to the point of being obsessive. Before I put anything in my mouth, I would ask myself, “Is this hurting me or helping me?” After five years I lightened up a little bit. I remember the first desert I allowed myself to eat, it was a piece of cheesecake. Oh my God, it tasted like heaven! As Abraham Hicks says, “If the action feels good, you should do it.” I realized that when I deprived myself of something I was craving, it would make me unhappy. When I had that little piece of desert, it was bliss. You have to remember to feed your soul as well as your body. Luckily, I don’t have a sweet tooth so I don’t eat desert very often but, when the action of eating the desert feels better than not eating it, I choose to eat it.

I know this is a lot of information and can seem overwhelming, but you don’t have to do all of them at once. This information presented itself to me one step at a time, when I was ready to receive it. It is important to keep an open mind and follow your heart. This is your body, only you know what feels right and what feels wrong.

I highly recommend the book Anticancer. Do your research and take it one moment at a time. If you have any questions, feel free to PM me and I will be more than happy to help you or direct you to someone great who can.
